Two Sides of the Same Coin: When Energy and Mobility Collide - and How They Can Align

Electric vehicles are often hailed as climate heroes, but in the eyes of the energy sector, they can look more like villains. Growing demand for electricity, grid bottlenecks, and conflicting policy goals all reveal a deeper tension between the mobility and energy transitions. In this talk, we’ll unpack why these transitions often clash—and more importantly, how they can be designed to reinforce one another. Spoiler: it’s not just about charging stations. It’s about rethinking how we move, build, and power our lives.

Dr. Iris Aviezer is a climate and energy advisor, biologist, and former policymaker. At Goudappel, she works to bridge the often-separated worlds of climate, energy, and mobility—translating complex systems into actionable insights for a more sustainable future.

The Invisible Arms Race: Why Microbes Evolve Faster Than We Can Invent Antibiotics

Every time you finish a course of antibiotics, bacteria get a chance to adapt. Most die. A few mutate and survive. This talk dives into that high-stakes evolutionary process, showing how scientists track resistance in real time and what we’re learning, from DNA to wastewater to plants.

Prof. Oren Tzfadia is a bioinformatician at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp. His work combines computational biology, multi-omics, and AI to tackle drug resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
